Corniglia_Liguria_italy

The origins date back to Roman times of Corniglia, as evidenced by the name, from "Gens Cornelia", Roman family owner of the place.

Corniglia is located on a rocky promontory overlooking the sea, a hundred meters high, from which you can admire all the other four villages of the Cinque Terre.

To get there you get the distinctive 'Lardarina', a long brick staircase consisting of 33 flights and 377 steps, or the road that leads to the village by the railway.
More concentrated on agriculture and the sea, Corniglia has agricultural vocation and has a type similar to that of urban centers, rural hinterland, with lower houses, raised only recently.

The village grew along Via Fieschi, with houses facing the street on one side and the other looking at the sea. There remain the ruins of a fortress dating back to 1556, on a cliff overlooking the sea.

  2. Hi Grace, In fact, these old (but only outside) housing, the shelter of the witches seem ready to kidnap the hapless travelers. Think, the Milan-Turin-Genoa triangle, a triangle has always been considered magical by many fans of the occult arts, and Genoa is not far from Corniglia... ;)
